Washington engineers hope to display messages on a contact lens

A group of UW electrical engineers are working to develop a contact lens that would display messages to the eye.

Babak Parviz, an associate professor of electrical engineering at the UW, came up with the original idea of the lens in 2004.

“We’d really like to display texts and have [the contact lens] display messages so you didn’t even have to look at your phone,” said Brian Otis, an associate professor of electrical engineering.

The goal is to make this contact lens look and feel like a normal one would, but with full systems containing extremely small
